Expert, Drug-Free Care for Fungal and Thickened Toenails
Toenail fungus (onychomycosis) can make nails thick, discolored, brittle, and hard to trim. ToeFX™ Light Therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free in-clinic treatment designed to improve the appearance of fungal toenails. Sessions are quick and comfortable, performed by our podiatry team here in King of Prussia.
If your nails haven’t improved with home remedies or over-the-counter products, we’re here to help.
Why Treat Toenail Fungus
Onychomycosis rarely clears on its own. Left untreated, it can spread to other nails and skin, make footwear uncomfortable, and raise the risk of secondary infection—especially if you have diabetes or circulation issues. Early diagnosis and a consistent plan lead to the best results.
Common signs and risk factors include:
- Yellow/brown discoloration, thickening, crumbling, or debris under the nail
- Nail lifting off the nail bed or irregular/rough nail surface
- History of athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) or prior nail trauma
- Sweaty feet, occlusive footwear, and shared locker rooms/pools
Our goal is to restore clearer, healthier-looking nails and reduce the chance of recurrence.

How ToeFX Works (and When We Use It)
ToeFX uses a specific wavelength of light to disrupt fungal organisms that live in and beneath the nail, supporting clearer nail growth over time. It’s painless and non-systemic (no pills, no needles).
We may recommend ToeFX when:
- You prefer to avoid—or cannot take—oral antifungal medications
- Topical treatments alone haven’t produced the results you want
- You’re looking for an in-clinic option that pairs well with good foot hygiene
Common Treatment Plan
Your plan is customized to the number of nails involved, nail thickness, severity, and your goals.
What we typically include:
- Comprehensive Nail Evaluation – assessment of nail/skin health, footwear, circulation, and risk factors
- Debridement (Thinning) – gentle reduction of thick or damaged nail to improve comfort and light penetration
- ToeFX™ Light Therapy – comfortable in-clinic sessions applied to affected nails
- Home Care & Prevention – shoe/sock hygiene, skin care, and guidance to limit re-exposure
- Maintenance (as needed) – periodic touch-ups to support ongoing clear growth
What to Expect
- Assessment & Plan – We confirm your diagnosis, review goals, and map out your schedule.
- Series of Sessions – A typical course is about 12 sessions over ~6 months (varies by severity and number of nails).
- Gradual Improvement – Toenails grow slowly; most people see cosmetic improvement as new nail replaces the damaged portion. Full regrowth commonly takes 9–12 months.
- Follow-ups – We monitor progress and adjust your plan as needed.
Our aim is not only to improve how your nails look now, but to help prevent future recurrence.
Prevention & Home Care Tips
-
Keep feet dry; rotate shoes and change socks if they become damp
- Disinfect nail tools; don’t share clippers
- Wear sandals in locker rooms, pool areas, and public showers
- Consider antifungal shoe spray or a UV shoe sanitizer if you’re prone to recurrence
- Trim nails straight across; avoid aggressive pedicures or digging at the corners
- Treat athlete’s foot promptly to reduce risk of nail involvement
